"All men dream: but not equally. Those who dream by night in the dusty recesses of their minds wake in the day to find that it was vanity: but the dreamers of the day are dangerous men, for they may act their dream with open eyes, to make it possible." T.E. Lawrence

Award-Winning Outdoor Educator
44 Years: 1968-2012
I work as a specialist outdoor educator and trainer, and a researcher into accidents on educational and youth organisation visits which has resulted in keeping and maintaining the UK's only Register covering 34 years. I act as a consultant and adviser to schools, businesses, and the security industry on training and education outside the class/lectureroom, spending as much time working in a one-to-one situation as with groups. I also have a technical role as an expedition leader and wilderness skills instructor. I was a 'classrom teacher' for 31 years, now Director & Chief Instructor for my own outdoor education and training company based in Leigh on Sea in Essex, working with over 100 schools.
I care passionately about education and its ability to produce - given the right climate - a 'fully-orbed' and well rounded person. My philosophy of education can be gleaned from the articles on this website; from my leading of teams - whether Senior Management Teams in schools, Instructors in my company, or clients in some of the largest corporations I evangelise the concept of 'capturing' youth, rebuilding, or at least re-envisioning young people so as to provide them with the tools to become able citizens.
